What to Expect

Trinity Church is a loving, caring group of people from many walks of life and faith traditions. There's a place here for you.

TRINITY CHURCH

Trinity Church celebrates the rich fullness of the historic liturgy, both the great hymns of the Church and gentle contemporary music, prayer, and a sermon that applies the Bible to our lives today.

Our building is both ancient and modern. It was designed to look like the oldest existing church building in New England, built in 1681. Its roots are historic- the Christian faith is much older than we are and isn’t going anywhere.

In these troublesome times we know God to be a sure anchor. Yet, our building is warm and inviting – a place that feels like home, reminding us God wishes to meet us today, as a friend and a helper, as well as the God of the universe.

Sunday Worship

Each week you’ll hear a sermon related to our walk with God in the world in which we live; you’ll hear our historic prayers of the church but with opportunity for you to add prayers of the church for contemporary situations and personal needs; you’ll be invited to receive holy communion, a reminder of Jesus’ offering of himself for our sins and a participation in His body and blood; and you’ll be given the opportunity after the service to receive personal prayer for whatever needs you have- body, soul , spirt or circumstance.

Other Services

Sometimes our services-Sunday and Mid-week- are variations on that theme.

On certain occasions simpler, more contemplative forms of prayer and styles of music are the style of the service. On more festive occasions the pipe organ sounds of the keyboard are called upon, a parishioner plays the trumpet, the vestments (robes) are fancy and incense is used.

Our pastor is a former professional organist and loves to arrange special services such as Taize’ and Tenebrae.

As our church grows more Christian Education events for people of all ages are being offered.

Looking for a new church home?

It’s a momentous decision you are about to make about what church you and yours will attend. This will greatly affect the spiritual lives of you and your children. In fact, this decision will affect your family and its growth for years to come. And, therefore, it is of critical importance. You should look for a church which meets the need of you and your family.

However, remember that no church will ever perfectly fulfill all the criteria we can place upon it. There is no perfect church. Also, remember that every church is going to have its own special blend of the characteristics, quirks, and strengths. The key is to find a church that has everything in proper balance, not overemphasizing some or de-emphasizing any particular move of god. A balanced ministry is a Spirit-controlled ministry.

At Trinity Church we try to keep in balance the various things God has given His Church ... A personal relationship with Jesus as Savior and Lord, Scripture, worship, love, obedience, service, the sacraments, fellowship, evangelism and more.

But the best way to learn about a Church is to visit it two or three times. We very much welcome visitors to Trinity Church ... but we do not pounce on them! We're New Englanders. We won't make you stand up during the service and ask you your name, where you came from, and what kind of car you drive. But after the service we will invite you to have some fellowship with us. And, we'll try to answer any questions you might have about this small part of God's Kingdom. We don't make you give us your address so we can force a visit on you. But, if you'd like our pastor to visit you in your home, he would be very happy to do so.

If you find a church that possesses most but not all of the characteristics you’re looking for, don't immediately disregard it. Consider whether God wants to use you to help improve that local body as you exercise your own particular spiritual gifts. We've been strengthened in the past as people have become part of our fellowship and shared with us what they'd learned in their previous church.
